Unemployment 2.9%, the lowest in 23 years. There are few people, desperate companies, overheated labor market. When I did an analysis of today’s article, Google found 8,360,000 results for the query “companies don’t have people”. Unemployment has been a big topic for the last few years, including economic growth and average wage growth. …
One would get the impression so easily that it’s the perfect time to change jobs, that it will work on its own and with an even higher salary. But what is the reality of the labor market if we look at it from the latter?
Low unemployment doesn’t mean you’ll find a job right away
We often meet people who may have been on the records of the employment office for a year. Before you start imagining a disability troublemaker in color, I’d like to mislead you.
For example, we met a lawyer who is fluent in two world languages, or an IT manager from a multinational corporation, for example. None of them spent a month in a single interview. This problem also affects various specialists. These are qualified, educated people who want to work. Unfortunately, invitations to interviews are somehow not played even after sending hundreds of CVs.
Wondering how this is possible? Honestly, I do too sometimes. Business whining doesn’t pay much for me, especially after I open my ads, and I see that recruiters often don’t even let you describe what the job should entail. Such companies would not have people, even if the unemployment rate was 10%.
I do not want to refute the fact that it is more difficult to find applicants, I just want to point out that the current economic situation is not always to blame.
Why can’t qualified people find work?
There can be countless reasons. Despite the fact that many experts are missing from the market, if they are missing in Prague and you come from South Moravia, probably because of that You won’t move .
Also, keep in mind that you still have a lot of competition as a candidate because there are a lot of people changing jobs. Conversely, in times of crisis, most people will hold their ground and fluctuate fewer.
Not everyone wants to do the same job as before, and if you’re changing industries , companies may not be interested in your previous successes from another sector.
We also often find that people can’t write a resume appropriate for the field in which they’re looking for a job . They download a template that they somehow fill out and don’t even think about whether it contains relevant information.
Decreased confidence and frustration
Not everyone can explain failure for rational reasons, and it’s understandable that it will affect you. If you don’t succeed for a long time, and at the same time you read how desperate companies can’t find anyone, it would be strange if it didn’t sign for you. Please start by ceasing to doubt yourself. It is precisely the uncertainty and doubt that would not be as successful at a possible interview.
If you don’t work for a long time, let’s recap it nicely from the beginning
- The employment office is not here to look for your job. This is a register of candidates.
- Recruitment agencies, too . Their client is a company, and that’s where their business comes from.
- It’s not the fault of “incompetent recruiters” that your resume isn’t successful. It’s great that you like it, but What matters here is what recruiters need to find there.
- If you are applying for a job in a different field and think you can do the job and that “nothing is a problem” Indicates your ignorance or zero self-reflection. This also won’t dazzle recruiters.
- If you submit 5 resumes a year, you can’t be surprised that there aren’t 10 interviews.
- You expect you will be approached by headhunters via LinkedIn and you don’t even have a properly filled out profile…
I definitely don’t want to touch anyone now, I’m just saying what we often encounter with clients .

How to get out of this?
Believe me, I would love to give you one miraculous piece of advice so that everything will be different from tomorrow. Unfortunately, as with most problems, there is no one-size-fits-all advice. You need to identify the vulnerability yourself.
Where exactly is the problem?
In the wrong resume, or can’t handle the interviews?
Have you submitted enough resumes to make it real that someone will respond?
Can you find the right ads?
Will recruiters find all the ad requests in your CV?
Aren’t you retrained for recruiters?
Does he understand your resume?
Do you find this a trifle? These are the most common reasons why candidates get stuck somewhere. You’d be surprised how often we meet people who don’t even read the ad properly, and then you’re surprised that no one will respond.
Try to look at it from a recruiter’s perspective.
Take your CV with you, plus an ad and a highlighter. Mark all the requirements for the ideal candidate in the advertisement and now try to find them in your CV. Is there anything missing? I just note in advance that if you write it in a cover letter, it is not enough. The key information must be found by the recruiter ideally on the first page of your CV, otherwise he / she will probably not continue reading.
If you are unsure, seek professional help.
The advice of acquaintances is fine, but if they don’t have experience in the field, well-meaning advice could still hurt you. There are a lot of quality articles on the Internet about changing jobs, so read some. Ideally, before you start sending out hundreds of resumes to all parties.
